LCK 2026: Three finalists name their biggest fears on eve of showdown

At CHZZK LoL Park in Jonggak, the mood before the 2026 LCK Finals was anything but polite. During a media day reported by Inven Global, three teams – T1, Gen.G Esports and Hanwha Life Esports – sent their head coaches and two players to face the press. Every coach named specific opponents as real threats. No one sounded overly confident, and no one avoided the question of which players were causing sleepless nights. The context made every comment significant. Hanwha Life Esports came from behind to beat T1 3-2 after trailing 1-2, showing a mentally stronger version of a team that used to collapse under pressure. Gen.G Esports then defeated HLE 3-1 in the upper bracket final. Gen.G advanced to the final from the winners' side and held a bracket advantage, while T1 had to fight through the lower bracket. Gen.G head coach Yoo Sang-wook said T1 are dangerous because they can create variables, while Hanwha Life are difficult because of their aggressive plays, bold attempts and tower dives. He named top laner Choi "Zeus" Woo-je and T1's bot lane duo as the players who cost him sleep. Hanwha Life Esports head coach Yoon Sung-young spoke extensively about the AD carry matchup. He praised Gen.G's ability to slow down losses and make comebacks. He also noted that T1's recent pressure through the top side has made them much harder to read. Three star AD carries – Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk of Gen.G, Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong of T1 and Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan of Hanwha Life – were asked to evaluate each other. Ruler and Gumayusi agreed that Peyz has sharp teamfight instincts and the ability to generate plays from raw mechanical skill. Peyz responded by describing both veterans as players with vast data and overwhelming veteran experience in every game. Ruler called Gumayusi a strong laner with clever reads. Gumayusi, in turn, highlighted Ruler's accumulated game knowledge, damage angles and consistency. When asked about their own strengths, both veterans said they rely on playing smart, not mechanical firefights. Other players also joined the discussion. Kiin said Kanavi's aggression at unexpected moments is genuinely hard to counter, while Keria's teamfight plays connect at a rate that puts him in a different league. Kanavi described Kiin as a player who can fill any role the team asks for, whether carry or tank. Keria added that Kiin's versatility makes him one of the hardest opponents to prepare against. The final is not just a battle of mechanics. Each team showed that they have studied the others closely and fear specific structural threats.
